Mike Mignola on Comic-Con and Hobbit Hints

mignola_lgMessage board members Earl and Theodred alerted us to a recent video interview with Mike Mignola at collider.com. In addition to saying how much he’s looking forward to Comic-Con, Mike made some brief, but very interesting comments about the week and a half he recently spent in New Zeeland working on The Hobbit, and what we can expect:

“It’s hard to say at this point, because so much work had been done before I even got there that I looked at it and I said wow, it looks like a 16 hour, insane movie, there’s so much in it. It’s too early for me to tell how much stuff is going to get pared down. I don’t really feel comfortable saying too much, except that it looks amazing. And it’s very much a del Toro stamp on that world.”

Check out the complete interview here.

DragonCon Tolkien Track schedule firmed up

DragonCon 2008The 2009 DragonCon schedule promises to be interesting and fun and features John Noble, a list of speakers and even TheOneRing.net. The event takes place annually, this year September 4-7, in a series of hotels in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. You can read details about the convention here and all the details of the Tolkien programming right here. TORn is scheduled to present an unauthorized look at everything we know so far about the production of ‘The Hobbit’ films and then present for discussion many of the things still open for speculation just as official pre-production begins.

Enjoy a ‘Hobbit Meal’ for a Good Cause

Gregory Pyne writes: I am pleased to announce the formation of a Ringers fundraising group here in the Orlando area called Hobbit Meals. Hobbit Meals centers itself around a love and passion for all things Lord of the Rings, while at the same time generating money and foods for local food banks and charities. Since we are just getting started, our operation is quite simple. We host Hobbit Meal events where Lord of the Rings fans come to enjoy the movies and a full Hobbit-style spread of food over the course of a day (Hobbits, as written by J.R.R. Tolkien, were known to eat up to six meals a day). Read the rest of this entry »
